AC Installation

New AC systems sized for your home and installed with care. Financing is available.

AC Magic offers AC installation in Orlando. When an old system has a major failure, like a dead compressor or a leaking coil, replacing it is often the better choice. The right new system is sized for your home, matched indoor to outdoor, and paired with ducts that can carry the air it makes.

A Bigger AC Is Not a Better AC

An oversized AC cools the air fast and shuts off before it pulls the water out. The house feels cold and clammy. It also starts and stops more, which wears it down. An undersized AC has the opposite problem: it runs all day and still falls behind on the hottest afternoons. The right size comes from a load calculation, often called a Manual J. It looks at square footage, insulation, windows, sun exposure, and duct layout. Copying the old unit's size is a guess. The house may have changed since then.

Replace the Indoor and Outdoor Units as a Matched Pair

A central AC has two halves. The condenser sits outside. The coil and air handler sit inside. They are built to work together. Putting a new outdoor unit on an old indoor coil can cut efficiency, shorten the life of the new compressor, and void some warranties. Systems that run on R-22 cannot simply be paired with new equipment, because new systems use a different refrigerant. In most cases, a full matched system is the cleaner choice.

SEER2 Ratings Tell You How Much Power the AC Uses

SEER2 is the efficiency rating on new AC systems. A higher number uses less power for the same cooling. A higher rated system usually costs more up front and less to run each month. Two stage and variable speed systems also run longer at low speed, which helps pull more moisture out of the air. The right pick depends on how long you plan to stay in the home and how hard your AC works through the year.

Do You Need a Permit to Replace an AC in Florida?

In most cases, yes. Florida generally requires a permit to replace a central AC system, and the work is usually inspected after the install. The permit is pulled by a licensed contractor. Rules and fees vary by city and county, so your local building office has the final word. A permitted job also leaves a record of the work on the home.

Check the Ducts Before the New System Goes In

A new AC still pushes air through your old ducts. If they leak, are crushed, or are too small, the new system cannot deliver what it is rated for. Install time is the easiest time to fix them. Our ductwork services page lists the signs of duct trouble.
